How long have you been working as Head of Engineering and what position did you start in?
I started as an apprentice in my first year of vocational training, so this was at the age of 14. I have been working in the Construction Department since 2015.
How big is your team and who is in it?
There are six of us. However, I believe that as a company we are one big team and so there are in fact many more of us. We have young colleagues and graduates in our team, but most importantly we also have engineers with long-term experience.
What projects do you focus on?
We target applications where there is a given aim, but there is no clear way to reach it. So, we try to find solutions for our colleagues and customers.
The fact that we are not afraid to find better and more efficient solutions is the reason behind our success. We do not mass produce components and only we determine what level of documentation is sufficient.
What has been the most challenging project for your team so far?
The biggest challenge has probably been streamlining our normal daily work. To be efficient, we need good tools and most importantly extensive industry knowledge.
In terms of tools, my colleagues have done a great job in automating some of the processes needed for efficient 3D modelling, data export, drawings, and BOMs.
In terms of knowledge, we are constantly growing and discovering new information essential for a better understanding of processes and procedures. Thanks to this, we make faster and better decisions, and fewer changes to designs.
I believe the biggest challenge is still ahead of us - to keep improving and setting new benchmarks and goals.
Why did you want to work at STREICHER?
I was attracted to the type of equipment STREICHER manufactures.
I enjoy the variety of projects STREICHER works on and how these projects overlap cutting-edge industrial and scientific applications. Plus, STREICHER makes quite large pieces of iron, which always makes one happy.
